“Jangan Di-Read!”: Indonesian Affixation to English Words on Social Media

Code mixing has been widely studied, but the study of it focusing on Indonesian affixation to English words is still scant. Therefore, this aims at investigating types affixes, change in word classes, and morphophonemic processes that occurred social media, specifically Instagram. Simak method was employed collect 90 affixed-English from 3 Instagram users’ photo captions as data. Furthermore, Kridalaksana (2007) Ramlan’s (2001) theories were analyze The findings demonstrate most frequently used affix a prefix, with di- recorded highest number. As for lexical function formed after process affixation, reveals three forms, namely (a) verb-forming, (b) adjectival-forming, (c) noun-forming verb-forming used. Finally, terms its processes, more common base form maintained rather than considering phonological rules regulated language. These preliminary suggest such does not consider EYD V due informal setting media mostly constructs.
